    JAM SESSIONS

    Hey Yachties and Stink Potters!

Introducing the Super Secret, Experimental, Not ready for Prime Time DCYC Friday, April 6th, Spring/Summer Jam sessions!

It’s a STRUM what you BRUNG, BANG what your BROUGHT and BLOW what you KNOW, all inclusive Bass and Treble clef party, hang out, burger burn, libations and what the heck, general American Idol musical extravaganza and spectacle!

Whoa, this is a PG rated group, so the above exclamations should be clarified!

You gotta Kazoo, Bongo’s, Tambourine, 6, 12, 90 string GEE-Tar! How about a Cello, French horn, Tuba, Flute, Trumpet, Keyboard, Drums or Bass.

Any and every one can request a song to be played or learned by the others, Heck if it needs more COWBELL, the Cowbell player can invite the others for a spirited rendition of BOC or Lynard Skynard!

So haul your instrument up and we will project out over the shore, by the covered patio so Lake Dallas can hear us.

Got that project, co-worker, job giving you frustration, come let loose and fill up on smiles and burn that frustration down!

The mission is not accomplished until the Oak Point Police show up and order us to SHUT ‘ER DOWN!

Let’s’ do Rock, both County and Western, Hip Hop, Classical, whatever tickles your ivories, let see what happens and have some fun!

The first, already SRO (Standing Room Only) jam session is scheduled for Friday, April 6th!

So come on out,  bring your Simon Cowell 1-10 judging cards and list of FAV songs you been dying to play or want to hear played!

Remember to bring a chair or blanket. Potluck, BYOB and have a great time. Potluck 6:30 and Jam Session 7:00.

    Junior Sailing Summer Camp

The DCYC youth program is open to new sailors as well as the advanced racer ranging in ages from 7 to 19 years old.

The program focuses on developing basic sailing skills taught in Optimist Prams and BIC Opens.  The kids will perfect the basics of rigging and sailing their Optis or BICs in straight lines on and off the wind; capsize recovery; identifying points of sail, where the wind is coming from and sail trim.  They will begin to learn how to start a race and make their way around the race course and the responsibility of caring for the boats and equipment.

As the sailors advance, they will be more focused on improving specific skills; be able to sail in any breeze condition; understanding wind shifts; perfect maneuvers and develop strategies for racing.

When the sailor is ready, they typically progress on to a Laser or 420.  These are used by many high school and collegiate teams and at TSA circuit events.  They are both designed for those older kids that have aged or sized out of the smaller boats.

The club has boats available for use.
