Adult Sailing Classes |

The Dallas Corinthian Yacht Club (DCYC) and the Dallas Corinthian Educational Fund (DCEF) offers an Adult Basic Sailing Course, for DCYC members and non-members. Two thirds of the instruction is on the water. This is not a beginner adult sailing class, but even a beginner can learn the skills necessary to safely handle a keelboat up to 25’ in length by taking this class. This is also a good refresher and fundamentals class for the “experienced” sailor. DCYC is offering two options; a one-day immersion class and a more detailed two weekend class for those that want more hands on training. The class times may vary depending on weather conditions or holidays. The one day class includes a Zoom classroom session and up to 6 hours of sailing . This shortened Keelboat 101 classes has a open book written exam during the lunch break. The two weekend class includes two Zoom classroom sessions and up to 12 hours of sailing . This Keelboat 101 class culminates with a final written exam and a demonstration of the skills mastered. The demonstration sail is with the instructor acting as unskilled crew Upon completion a diploma will be issued, and the student should feel confident in taking a small keelboat sailing in fair wind condition. Because of COVID-19, there will be temperature checks and a mask requirement while on DCYC grounds. Masks may be removed once we leave the dock. Questions, contact Captain Doug. |
