CHILI COOK OFF

Saturday, October 15th, 2016

What would fall in Texas be if not for great homemade chili?  DCYC proudly presents the prestigious 2016 Terlingua-In-Exile Chili Cook-off!

Not sanctioned or affiliated with CASI or ICS.

No fee required.

- We recommend you cook your chili at home before attending.

- Drop off your chili submission by 4 pm SaturdayInstructions to judges will begin at 4 pm.

Judging will conclude at 5:30 pm and winners will be announced in categories like the following:

  • Texas red (all beef, no beans)

  • Beany chili (all meats)

  • Green chili (all meats)

  • Vegetarian/Vegan chili

  • All others (Cincinnati style, Chili Mac, etc.)

  • Best Overall

NOTE: SEE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE ENTERED IN EACH CATEGORY AT THE BOTTOM.

We recommend submitting about one gallon of chili so there is enough for judging and for attendees to sample. This would be about the amount of chili made from two to three pounds of meat.

For regatta competitors who want to submit a chili before racing, we will store the chili in the upstairs DCYC refrigerator, and the cook-off committee will see that the chili is heated and put on a water-bath heater for judging and sampling.

There is a separate, unrelated meal plan for Saturday's dinner.

Audacity Brewhouse will supply beers and chili-pairing suggestions.

Please preregister so we can plan for display capacity.

The chilis will be judged in a double-blind procedure. Judges and the cook-off official holding the list of entries will not be allowed to compete. DCYD members and guests are invited to compete, provided they are not one of the official judging staff.

More details will be posted in the coming week, including official rules and prizes.

~~~ Call for Chili Judges ~~~
Instructions to the judges and judging will begin at 4 pm Saturday, October 15.
If you are not racing and would like to be a judge, please register as a judge.
