INFORMATION FOR CHILI COOK-OFF

CONTESTANTS

All contestants must pre-register for the cook-off. Entry fee is $5.00 per chili submission. Each chili submission requires a new entry. For example, if you are submitting two different types of chili, you should submit one entry for each chili.  

Contestants must drop off their chili submissions upstairs between 5 pm and 6 pm on Friday. Please bring 1 gallon of chili for judging. Be sure that your chili is hot and in a container (such as a crock pot or cast iron pot) that will keep it warm for at least an hour. 

CATEGORIES

  • Traditional Red Chili (any kind of meat or combination of meats, cooked with RED chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients, with the exception of BEANS and PASTA)

  • Chili with Beans (any kind of meat or combination of meats, cooked with chili peppers, various spices and other ingredients including beans) 

  • Freestyle Chili (any variation of chili that does not fall into the above two categories including but not limited to vegetarian and Green Chili)  
Game, turkey or other non-traditional meats may be included in the Traditional Red Chili category, but can also be included in the Freestyle Chili if you so choose. Anything with beans should be in the Chili with Beans category. 
JUDGING
Judging of the chili submissions will be done by our dinner attendees. Registration to attend dinner and participate in judging is $10. Seats are limited so sign up early! You will receive five or more chips (depending on submission count) that will be used to vote for your favorite chili(s). You can use all of your chips to vote for one submission, or spread it across various chili submissions. You will also receive a bowl of chili with all of the toppings and bread. 
AWARDS
Each top winner in the three categories listed above will receive an award. In addition, the overall winner (the one with the most votes overall) will be named the 2018 Chili Cook-Off Winner on the perpetual trophy that will be kept at the clubhouse.
